    Tombland by C.J. Sansom

    • Great history, fabulous mystery and crime fiction of the highest quality
    • Based around 1549 Kett’s Rebellion and most events take place at Norwich, which was at that time the second largest city in England.
    • Lots of mind puzzles, full of action that is sometimes gory, an interesting look at the division between the upper and lower classes, interesting take on Princess Mary and Princess Elizabeth, lots of fighting and a dip into medieval politics.
    • What I liked about it: Lots of medieval history, I fell in love with one of the characters (can you guess which one?), the beautifully drawn map of Norwich and Mousehold Heath in AD 1549, the odd bit of shocking gore and the superbly implemented historical details.
#ReadingWithJules rated it 10/10 … It’s a monster of a book but it’s so worth getting aching arms for! Historical fiction at its best!
